Program

We are honored to have you join us as Soren becomes a Bar Mitzvah, marking his passage into Jewish adulthood. Thank you for celebrating this important day with our family!

The service will start at 10:30 CST on March 13th over Zoom at:

shirtikvah.info/bmitzvah

Soren will help lead the Shabbat morning service, accompanying many of the prayers on his guitar. During the Torah service, Soren will first read his D’var Torah, his interpretation of the Torah portion. He will then chant from the Book of Exodus, reading verses, Vayak’hel-P’kudei 38:20-36:3.

A digital siddur (prayer book) can be found at:

Soren will offer his interpretation of his Torah Portion and Haftorah during the service. You can download PDF below.

Although we cannot gather in person, you are welcome to stay on Zoom at the end of the service to share your wishes with Soren.

Thank You

Soren's Torah portion, Vayak'heil-P'kudei, centers on the moment when the Jewish people came together as a community to build the Mishkan (holy tabernacle). It's an act of creation and community-building. In this spirit, we'd like to thank the many members of our community who contributed to this year of learning and growth.

We would especially like to thank Rabbi Lekach-Rosenberg, Forrest Yesnes, and Steve Greenberg, his tutor, for guiding Soren with such graciousness and joy. We would also like to thank his Hebrew school teachers, Barry Epstein and Lucy Marshall, and the larger Shir Tikvah community. Many thanks to our friend Mary Mateer for her guidance as Soren wove his tallit. Thanks also to the wonderful teachers, family, and friends who have supported Soren through the years and helped him become the thoughtful and caring person he is today. We are so happy to have you join us for this virtual celebration!
